RSS Feeds
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content including, but not limited to, blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts. An RSS document (which is called a "feed" or "web feed" or "channel") contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that can be piped into special programs or filtered displays.

How to use an RSS feed?
-
Most internet browser (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari) support
Live Bookmarks. Live Bookmarks can be recognized by their RSS icon on the right
of the address line. Clicking this icon causes the feed behind the Live Bookmark
to be subscribed to.
-
You can use most email readers (e.g. Thunderbird, Outlook and Apple Mail) to
subscribe to RSS feeds and read the news. News items are displayed like incomming email.
-
Various specific feed readers exist. The behavior is similar to reading feeds with an
email reader. Find an
overview at wikipedia.
-
Various online readers exist. Probably the most popular one is
Google Reader.
You can assemble your own feed portal using online readers.
-
Similar to online feed readers, personalized portal pages can give you an overview
of up-to-date information and support the integration of RSS feeds.
iGoogle
and Netvibes
are popular examples of such personal information hubs. WSCA Online news feed
can easily be integrated to both of them.
Up-to-date lists
You can find lists with schedules in multiple locations in WSCA Online. All those
lists feature visible support for past (gray), next (red) and upcomming (black) events.
Bookmarks
Social Bookmarks
Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata.
In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine.

You can find a set of social bookmarking links on each page to enable you to easily
bookmark the page with your favorite social bookmarking service (needs registration
and login with the service).
Stable Addresses
Our page addresses are stable over a long time. If we have to move page addresses for
technical reasons, we provide forwarding services to allow your bookmarks to
be stable over time. However, we may break links to outdated pages.
Navigation
You can always find the same set of links (menu) on the left side. The number of entries
is kept small on purpose.
In addition to the visible navigation, we provide a Quicklinks dropdown menu on the top
of each page with some additional entries like links to the latest press release or
the latest letter.
